In collating the Festival’s own short film showcase, Eat My Shorts, the Derby team sought submissions from across the globe. Festival co-director Adam J Marsh was on hand to explain the selection process – one based entirely on merit – and its remarkable outcome that six of the programme’s seven films come from UK filmmakers.

Short films included grotesque body-horror meets fratricide thriller The Stomach; a documentary about the plight of transexuals in Iran, The Second Room; and another film about prejudice and The National Front in 1980s Leicester, Beverley, that’s Britain’s answer to Céline Sciamma’s Girlhood.
You can read my full reviews of these films over at Gorilla Film Online, where you can also find the trailers and full length shorts.
