Following Derby’s own carefully collated shorts programme (Eat My Shorts) came another, this time chosen by Oberhausen, the world’s leading festival of short films. This second shorts programme, Oberhausen On Tour, featured six films from their 2014 German Competition, all following the theme of ‘family and alternative forms of communal living’.

Short films included The Satanic Thicket: One, a drama focussed on the simple corruptions that exist within ordinary families and Birds, a stylish documentary exploring the ways birds and humans coexist.
