I’m Natalie Stendall, a freelance writer based in the West Midlands, UK. I’d like to welcome you to my blog, Writer Loves Movies, where I write about storytelling in film and literature.
I share my ongoing film journey in the blog series Now Showing, taking a closer look at recent films and the stylistic techniques that bring them to life. And a new regular feature, The A-Z of Adaptations, investigates how filmmakers translate literary stories into cinematic ones, exploring their choices and breaking down important ideas and concepts.
But sometimes we make connections that were perhaps unintended by the filmmaker. Their work reminds us of an earlier film, or of ideas, themes or messages explored elsewhere in other stories in other art forms like literature or the visual arts. Taken together these stories can communicate something bigger. These connections are explored in my new blog series, Companion Pieces.
I hope that you enjoy your time here at Writer Loves Movies. You can find more about me here and find ways to follow me below. I love hearing from my readers so please share your thoughts in the comments, I’m looking forward to starting a conversation with you.
